gentri-decay.
I am a big proponent of gentrification but I have to say, nothing thrills me more than a decaying factory building. Lucky for me, the Colt Fire-Arms Factory (the factory’s namesake, Samuel Colt is credited with popularizing the revolver) is just such a presence in Hartford. We spent Saturday morning traipsing around the sprawling building and snapping photos right and left. Part haunting, part decadent the building is undergoing huge renovations converting the space into luxury loft apartments and retail/commercial offices. While I am excited to see this project hopefully reinvigorate the city I will be sad to lose such a perfectly beautiful albeit crumbling pillar of American Industry.
